PDP-11/35 To-Do List
Building a system from this PDP-11/35 is a project riddled with
dependencies, not least of all making space for all the equipment!
I'm trying to maintain this list in order to keep track of what needs doing,
and what needs to be done in order to do it.
1 |
Run XXDP+ Diagnostics on CPU and RK05 (and later on TE16). An RK05 with
XXDP+ on it came with the machine so, assuming it works, I just need to
hook up an RK05 drive to run diagnostics.

2 |
Install RK11 controller and RK05 drive(s). Just need to sort out a
power harness for the controller first.

3 |
Set up serial console. The supplied M7800 supports RS-232, but I need
to make a cable to hook it up.

4 |
Install/run UNIX operating system. Due to a lack of a supported tape
drive or tape images of the software this will have to be done by
transfering a disk image to an RK05 pack with VTServer.

5 |
Create Unix disk image for PDP-11/35. The disk images found on the
Internet are built for the 11/45, so this must be modified by rebuilding
the kernel.

6 |
Locate and install EIS and LTC modules. These are processor options which
are required to be able to run Unix. The first provides the
Extended Instruction Set and the latter a clock
interrupt.

7 |
Install RH11 Massbus controller and TE16 tape drive. This should be simple
enough, but I need to make some space for the drive first.
