This section is dedicated to my collection of classic DEC hardware. Although I've had an Alpha machine for a while, being a UNIX nut and a fan of old hardware, it was only a matter of time before I (re)discovered Digital's famous PDP-11 minicomputers. This long-running range ran from 1970 right through to 1990, spanning an important time in the development of computers and operating systems, and later spawned the VAX family of machines.

The older blinkenlights machines with their impressive-looking front panels are of course the stereotypical PDP-11 systems. The newer systems are however still great to tinker with and a good introduction to the platform. Not only are the later PDP-11 systems more recognisable to those used to modern hardware, they generally take up much less space than their predecessors.
