Details

These things are apparently made by Thomson Multimedia and badged as Alcatel equipment. I only have this because it came as part of a do-it-yourself ADSL kit. Owners should check the Self-help Guide External link for what you can do about the various security issues related to these boxes.

Mods

It's possible to upgrade your Speedtouch Home to a Speedtouch Pro (despite having no terminal port) with a quick software hack. This enables groovy features like NAT, DHCP and PPP, meaning you can get the modem to dial out and share your connection for you (basically the thing can be made to work more like a router then a modem).

This link External link has the details - it is not part of this site and I won't be held responsible for any damages you might suffer following the instructions within! That said, it's a very simple operation and I've never heard of anyone having trouble with it.
